The Timiskaming District Violence Against Women Coordinating Committee (TDVAWCC) is comprised of a cross section of service providers throughout our District and outlying areas. Our aim is to facilitate a coordinated system of local supports at the community level that maximizes the capacity of service providers to respond to abused women’s needs, improve access to services, and ultimately increase the safety and overall wellbeing for abused women and their children. Within the District of Timiskaming our integrated system and the VAWCC recognizes the diversity of the community (e.g., ability, race, sexual orientation, gender identity, ethno-cultural background, Francophone, First Nation, Metis, or Inuit identity, or whether they identify as LGBTQI2s+) and as such we aim to provide services and supports that are linguistically appropriate and culturally sensitive.
